Good Morning -Pen: DreamLUMI Touch
Even though waking up on Monday mornings is always the highlight of the week (....), my under eye area doesn't seem to agree! After the long and relaxing summer holiday, my batteries lasted well for about 3 weeks but then I started to see some signs of tiredness on my face so I had to add a lightpen (that's how we call them in Finland at least) to my shopping list. I heard a lot of positive reviews about Maybelline DreamLumi Touch and that it works even better than the YSL "lightpen" (which normally doesn't happen when you compare luxury brands to supermarket brands). So I decided to save some euros and get the Maybelline version. The shade I use is 02 Ivory.
Kuulin DreamLUMI Touchista positiivista palautetta, että se toimii paremmin kuin YSL:n vastaava, eli päätin säästää pari kymppiä ja kokeilla Maybellinea, kun valokynä oli ostoslistalla joka tapauksessa. Sävy, mitä käytän, on 02 Ivory:
Below there's a picture of me wearing nothing but eye make up. No foundation, concealer, powder or nothing on the skin outside the eye area. All you can see is the monday morning empty tired stare with a hint of purple under the eyes. The freckles look like dirt and there's redness under the nose.
Alla kuva, missä olen meikannut vain silmät. Ei meikkivoidetta, peitevoidetta, puuteria tms. Nähtävissä siis maanantaista tyhjää tuijotusta ja violetihtavat silmänaluset. Pisamat näyttää roskilta ja nenän alla punertaa.
In the picture above you can see the result after I've blended the pen. My opinion is that the change is big, at least when I look into the mirror. Maybe it doesn't show in the pictures as much. I'm especially excited because the texture is perfect: it applies and blends evenly and leaves a beautiful sheer glow without making the skin look greasy or dry.
The only "lightpen" to which I can compare this is the Lumene Touch of Radiance and I have to say that I like the DreamLUMI one better, even though they're very similar. I've kept repurchasing the Lumene version over and over again for the past 5+ years, but this is good change maybe because the texture is lighter. The result is fresh and makes me look like there's no make up (but I think Lumene has more pigment.. so that would be better for dark under eye areas). Less is more. Au Revoir :)

Yllä olevassa kuvassa on lopputulos tasoittamisen jälkeen. Omasta mielestäni muutos on huomattava. Erityisen innoissani olen, koska valokynän koostumus on täydellinen: aine levittyy tasaisesti ja jättää sopivasti kuultavan lopputuloksen ilman, että iho näyttää kiiltävälä/rasvaiselta tai kuivakalta. Ainoa valokynien vertailukohtani on Lumenen Touch of Radiance -valokynä ja pakko sanoa, että DreamLumia on miellyttävämpi käyttää sen kevyemmän koostumuksen ansiosta. Lopputulos on raikas ja onnistuu näyttämään siltä kuin meikkiä ei edes olis.

Dior Hydra Life BB Cream
At the end of the summer I realized that when the autumn comes, my skin will start to look more pale and uneven than in the summer, when it's all tan and glow. My old foundation (MAC Studio Sculpt - NC 25) was perfect for the ex acne medicated extremely dry skin, because it had full coverage, but now 4 months after the acne has healed, I noticed that the same stuff just made me look older. Luckilly there are a bunch of BB creams on the market now. I had to start looking for something light and as natural as possible for my normal skin, that only needs some life and smoothing. In the left picture there's nothing else than eye make up and on the right I've applied some Dior BB cream.
Kesän loppumetreillä huomasin, että iho rupeaa näyttämään syksyn tullen kalpealta ja epätasaiselta kesäiseen ruskettuneeseen hehkuun verrattuna. Vanha meikkivoiteeni (MAC Studio Sculpt - NC25) oli täydellinen entiselle lääkityksen kuivattamalle akneiholleni, koska se on todella peittävää, mutta aknen parannuttua sama meikkivoide näyttää nyt vanhentavalta.Onneksi nykyään on markkinoilla paljon BB-voiteita mistä valita.
Luckilly I found the Dior Hydra Life tinted moisturizer in shade 1 from the Helsinki airport some time ago. Then I just couldn't buy it, because it was an inland flight. But I had a chance to put my boyfriend get it for me from Copenhagen airport. I gave him instructions to get me Dior BB creme in shade 1. I had no idea myself that that was an impossible equation. There's only one BB creme, but two tinted moisturizers. And the price difference was 14 €! Result: I got the wrong stuff, but that turned out great because the BB creme is better than what I wanted first!

Onneksi löysin lentokentältä Diorin Hydra Life sävyttävän kosteusvoiteen (sävy 1). Silloin en vain pystynyt ostamaan sitä, koska lensin Hki-Oulu-väliä. Onneksi pystyin laittamaan pari viikkoa sitten Hki-Köpis-väliä lentävän poikaystäväni ostamaan sitä puolestani. Annoin ohjeeksi tuoda "Dior BB-voide, sävy 1". Se vaan oli mahdoton yhtälö. BB-voidetta on vain yhtä sävyä, mutta sävyttäviä kosteusvoiteita kahta eri sävyä. Myös hintaeroa oli n. 14 €! Lopputulos: sain väärää ainetta, mutta onneksi niin, koska tuo varsinainen BB-voide on parempaa ainetta kuin sävytetty kosteusvoide.
Laita mies asialle, niin saatat yllättyä positiivisesti :)
One of the big pros of this BB cream is that it has SPF 30, so this will be handy next Christmas on my Singapore-Bali-trip. The cream is very lasting and I think the tube will last me well until next year: one Q-tip head sized drop is enough for the whole face.
Kaiken lisäksi tässä on SPF 30, eli tälle tulee ehdottomasti käyttöä myös ensi joulun Singapore-Bali-reissulla. Voide vaikuttaa todella riittoisalta, topsipuikon pään kokoinen tippa riittää koko kasvoille, eli varmasti tämä riittää hyvinkin ensi vuoteen.
I hope you can see how the cream gives a nice warmth to the face, covers some redness, paleness and uneveness, makes the freckles less visible and still looks natural.
Even though this cream is wonderful and makes me very happy, I'd still like to have something a little lighter on the color and a little more moisturizing on the texture. I have to try to mix this with moisturizer next time. Also it would be better if it left a little more matte result. This requires some powder or bronzer so that it doesn't look too shiny. I hate powder in the morning and thus I'd love to find a BB cream that would be perfect just by itself.

Vaikka tämä BB-voide onkin täyttä ihanuutta, toivoisin jotain vieläkin kevyempää. Seuraavaksi kokeilen sekoittaa tätä ja kosteusvoidetta. Voide olisi parempi jos se jättäisi hieman matamman lopputuloksen. Ainakin minulla tämä vaatii hieman puuteria/aurinkopuuteria kaveriksi. Vihaan puuteria aamulla, joten haluaisin löytää sellaisen voiteen, joka ei kaipaisi seurakseen mitään.

Hair Yummies - Percy & Reed + Tangle Teezer
Yesterday mail brought me my new pampering kit for my suffered hair. It was about the time to change my shampoo and conditioner to new ones because for some time I've felt that the current ones won't get my hair really clean even though the same Macadamia Natural Oil products have made my hair sing halleluja of joy before.
Eilen tuli postissa uusi hemmottelupaketti kärsiville hiuksilleni. Oli todella korkea aika vaihtaa shampoot ja hoitoaineet jo uusiin, koska tuntui ettei hiukset enää kunnolla puhdistu tai hoivaannu entisillä, vaikka joskus aiemmin samat Macadamia Natural Oilin tuotteet saivat hiukseni huutamaan hallelujaa silkasta nautinnosta.
I've been reading raving reviews of Percy & Reed brand lately. They have a few product lines for different kind of hair, but I ended up having the moisturizing line, even though I know I should use shampoo for greasy hair and not for dry hair. My hair get's greasy on the roots, but is always very dry at the ends.
Lähiaikoina olen lueskellut huippuhehkutusta uudelle Percy & Reed -brändille. Heiltä löytyy muutama eri tuoteperhe erilaisille hiuksille, mutta itse päädyin kosteuttavaan linjaan, vaikka shampoo minun pitäisikin valita mielummin rasvoittuville hiuksille kuin kuiville hiuksille. Hiukseni kun ovat tyvestä melko rasvoittuvat, mutta latvasta kuivat.
Beautybay has an "exlusive travel kit" with four small bottles (shampoo. conditioner, mask and texturising spray). I thought I'd try Percy & Reed with the small sized bottles first to get to know them before ordering the normal sized bottles, because this kit cost almost as much as one normal sized bottle.
Beautybaylla on valikoimassaan tuollainen 'exclusive travel kit' -pakkaus, missä on 4 eri pientä purnukkaa (shampoo, hoitoaine, naamio ja tuuheuttava spray). Tämä neljän pakkaus kun maksaa vain muutaman euron enemmän kokonaisuudessaan kuin yksi normaalikokoinen tuote.
All the four products smell the same but I can't get a hold of the scent. Something fresh, herbal and something summery with a lake view :) (without rotting reed). I'm not a big fan of the scent, which might be the reason why I din't really fall in love with these overall. The minute the mask runs out I'll get back to Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque, because there's nothing like it.
Kaikki 4 ainetta tuoksuvat samalta, mutten saa mitenkään mieleeni, että miltä. Jotain raikasta, jotain yrttistä, jotain kesäistä järvenrantamaisemaa muistuttavaa :) (ilman mädän kaislan hajua). En kauheasti ihastunut tuoksuun, mikä voi olla syy siihen, etten ihastunut näihin muutenkaan. Heti tuon hiusnaamion loputtua ostan lisää Macadamia Natural Oilin Deep Repair Masqueta, koska mikään ei päihitä sitä.
I'm sure tese are very good for my hair, but after a few uses I'm quite sure I wouldn't repurchase them. Except the texturising spray! It's miraculous. I sprayed it to towel dry hair and used some blowdryer and the result was like Hermione in some old Harry Potter movie. The spay made my hair so voluminous that I didn't know was even possible. What a great base for making a party hairdo!
Overall rating for the kit: 8. Rating for the texturising spray: 10.

Another Beautybay pick was Tangle Teezer, a brush that has received a huge amount of positive feedback. I wondered how can one brush be so superior to others, it's just a brush! I still don't understand it, but I agree with everybody who rated 5 stars for it. It's a wonderful brush! It opens all the knots in my hair after shower with just a few strokes whereas my old brush (supposed to be sooo good) needs 10 strokes per one small bundle of hair. This would make a great Christmas present for any messy hair out there. You can find it here. My color is Disco Purple.Rating: 10 +

Nails and leaves look good together
Last night I had an urge to paint our bathroom's floor seams that have been quite gross since we moved into our new home. After five hours of painting and scrubbing my fingers had turned green (eww) and almost non-existing.
So I had to start painting my nails in the middle of the night after
the project and my eyes cought this one that I've been avoiding all
summer.
This morning when I looked outside, I noticed that my front yard tree had changed her color to a beautiful red and thought that they'd make a great color match with my nails.
Nail polish: Inglot - shade 924. It requires two layers to look good, but it's easy to apply. Early last summer I got this nail polish together with bright blue and white nail polishes for a navy-themed bachelorette party. I'm so glad that there's more use to it now, the color is so juicy.
Eilen illalla sain päähänpiston maalata kylppärin saumat, jotka on ollu
muutosta lähtien aika karseat. Viiden tunnin puunaamisen jälkeen kynnet
olikin sitten entiset ja nekin vähän mitä jäi jälkelle, oli värjäytyneet
hankaussienestä vihreäksi (yök). Joten yöllä oli pakko ruveta vielä
lakkaamaan kynsiä. Kesällä karttamani tummanpunainen houkutteli nyt
enemmän kuin koskaan.
Aamulla ulos vilkaistessa huomasin, että pihan puuntynkä on muuttanut lehtensä valloittavan punaisiksi ja niistähän tuli todella kaunis väripari. Kynsilakka: Inglot - sävy 924. Vaatii kaksi kerrosta näyttääkseen hyvältä, mutta onneksi levittyy tasaisesti ja helposti. Alkukesästä Inglotista tarttui mukaan tämän lisäksi tummansininen ja valkoinen lakka navy-teemaisia polttareita varten. Onneksi tälle tuli muutakin käyttöä, on tää niin hekumallinen väri!

My classic: Stila - In the Light
Stila In the Light -eye shadow palette is very much raved around so of course I wanted to have it, but I also saw a hundred raving reviews of Urban Decay's Naked palette and heard that they're really similar. So I couldn't choose and got both of them :) After using both of them for a while I somehow just realized that I'm always more drawn to the Stila palette. Last couple of months it has been more or less in everyday use and it has traveled with me the whole summer (which you might be able to tell from the packaging).
Stilan In the Light -luomiväripaletti on todella paljon kehuttu, joten totta kai halusin tilata sen, mutta halusin myös Urban Decayn Naked -paletin, koska sitäkin on kehuttu paljon ja kuulemma nämä kaksi ovat hyvin samankaltaisia. Pakko oli siis saada molemmat :) Molempia testailtuani rakastuin enemmän Stilan palettiin. Viimeiset pari kuukautta se on ollut lähes päivittäisessä käytössä ja reissannut mukanani koko kesän (mikä saattaa näkyä pakkauksesta).
The eye shadows are very pigmented and long lasting on the lids (with primer at least). Stila is on the PETA list of companies that Don't test on animals and I always go nuts when I find something lovable from that list. The palette has perfect balance of mattes and shiny colors. All the shades mix'n'match together and every single one of them is beautiful and usable.
Sometimes with palettes the same thing happens than with a bag of candy: there's always something you don't really like and you save it last or leave untouched (if even your dog or BF won't eat them). Not with this palette!
Luomivärit ovat todella pigmenttisiä ja kestävät luomilla pitkään (käytän aina myös pohjustusta). Stila on päässyt PETAn eläimillä testaamattomien kosmetiikkayritysten listalle, ja olen aina pähkinöinä kun löydän uuden lempparibrändin siltä listalta! Paletissa on täydellinen tasapaino mattasävyjen ja kiiltävien kesken. Kaiken lisäksi kaikki sävyt ovat äärimmäisen kauniita ja sopivat toisiinsa. Yleensä palettien kanssa käy sama homma kuin valmiiden irtokarkkisekoitusten kanssa: aina on yksi tai kaksi karkkia, mitkä jää viimeiseksi, mahdollisesti jopa kokonaan syömättä, paitsi jos poikakaverille tai koiralle kelpaa :) Mutta tämän paletin kanssa ei käy niin!
Usually the upper line is for the morning make up routine and the lower line is for the party party make up routine. Kitten is a shade that has reached some kind of cult fame and I can easily understand it. As you can see, I've already hit the pan. Kitten is shimmery but not too much and it's not boring like most nude highlight colors. It reflects light beautifully and it's easy to apply with finger. It matches with both warm and cold tones.
As comparison: in UD's Naked palette, there's not a shade as lovable as Kitten and maybe that's why I reach for this palette more often than Naked.
Useimmiten arkimeikissä on käytössä tuo ylärivi ja bile- tai juhlameikissä alarivi. Kitten on saavuttanut melkoista kulttihuumaa ja ymmärrän sen täysin! Pohja näkyy jo! Se heijastaa valoa kauniisti, ei ole liian kimalteleva, eikä tylsä ja levittyy helposti sormella. Sävy sopii sekä lämminsävyisen, että viileäsävyisen meikin kaveriksi. Vertailun vuoksi UD:n Nakedissa ei ole yhtään sävyä, josta olisin yhtä innoissani. Siksi kai se on jäänyt vähemmälle käytölle.
With the palette there also comes a waterproof smudge stick eye liner, the shade is dark brown and it's called Damsel. The eye liner is very waterproof and smudge-free. Above there's a picture of a fresh line and below a picture taken about 22 hours, some rubbing and about 30 hand washes later and the line is still visible!
Paletin mukana tulee myös vedenkestävä tummanruskea (sävyn nimi on Damsel) rajauskynä. Se on todellakin vedenkestävä ja tuhriintumaton. Yllä kuva tuoreesta rajauksesta ja alla kuva n. 22 h ja n. 30 käsienpesua jälkeenpäin ja viiva näkyy edelleen!
All in all I give this a grade 10- (scale 1-10). The minus comes from the fact that some shades, like Gilded Gold, is hard to apply without having residue on your cheeks and because they're very pigmented, it's hard to take off without ruining the foundation etc. The texture could be more creamy or solid or something that makes good eye shadows not fall around, but without that the palette was a perfect purchase. Gilded gold) rapisee vähän poskille levittäessä, ja runsaan pigmenttimäärän ansiosta on vähän kinkkinen saada siististi poskesta pois. Testing Stila In the Light -eye shadow palette
Some time ago I bought the Stila natural eye shadow palette, because I liked the down-to-earth colors and knew before that the quality of their eye shadows is very high. Most of the colors are nude/goldish/brownish and that's what I most like about the palette, see swatches here. With the palette there comes a small leaflet with tutorials for different looks. Here I show how they look on real eyes (the pictures in the leaflet are fake).
Look 1. Purrfect cat eye
1) Apply 'bare' from lash line to brow line
2) Apply 'kitten' to the lid and blend
3) Apply 'bliss' to crease and outer corner of the eye
4) Wet brush and apply 'ebony' to lash line, carefully extending the line up past the eye
Look 2. Ombre sultry eye
1) Apply 'bare' from lash line to brow line
2) Apply 'sandstone' to the lid and blend
3) Apply 'gilded gold' to crease and diffuse
4) Apply 'luster' to lash line and blend upwards
Look 3. Urban gypsy
1) Apply 'champagne' to the lid and blend
2) Apply 'gilded gold' to crease
3) Apply 'sunset' to lash line and blend
4) Apply smudge stick waterproof eye liner in damsel to upper lash line and outside corner of bottom lash line
Look 4. Basic beauty
1) Apply 'bare' from lash line to brow line
2) Apply 'bliss' to the lid and blend
3) Apply 'sandstone' to lash line and blend upwards
4) Apply a thin layer of smudge stick waterproof eye liner in damsel to upper lash line
Look 5. Midnight dream
1) Apply 'bare' from crease to brow bone
2) Wet brush & apply 'night sky' to the lid and blend upwards
3) Apply smudge stick waterproof eye liner in damsel to lash line, carefully extending the line up a bit past the eye
Look 6. Smoky luster
1) Apply 'bliss' to crease and blend upwards
2) Apply 'luster' to lid and blend into crease
3) Apply 'night sky' to lid
4) Wet brush and apply 'ebony' to upper and lower lash lines
7. Unun everyday style (my style is the best!)
1) Apply 'bare' to brow bone
2) Apply 'kitten' to inner corner of the lid
3) Apply 'bliss' to the center of the lid, next to kitten
4) Mix 'sunseti' and 'sandstone' and apply to the outer corner of the lid and crease
5) Apply black gel liner or smudge stick eye liner in damsel to upper lash line, carefully extending the line past the eye to create a cat eye effect.
